This week is National Diabetes Awareness Week, did you know that Diabetes is Australia’s fastest growing chronic illness and can significantly affect your eyes as well as your general health?

Many people with diabetes experience changes to their vision. Diabetes (type 1 and 2) can affect the health of the eyes and can contribute to the development of cataracts, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy as well as affect your colour vision, prescription and ability to focus1. It’s particularly important for people living with diabetes to have regular eye examinations. At OPSM, a standard eye test is bulk-billable+ for eligible Medicare cardholders and services.

If you have any concerns or questions about your eye health, OPSM are here to help.
